The Executive Committee of the PCCC was pleased to recently meet with Mike Kelly, the Director of Public Affairs for the New York State Association of Realtors (NYSAR) and NYSAR President David Legaz. We engaged in a lively discussion on the many points of mutual interest and concern regarding the Co-op and Condo Community. One area of mutual concern to the proposal before the New York City Council regarding the ban of criminal background checks for prospective tenants entering into a lease.

 

This proposal as drafted would include Co-ops in this ban. Of course, the Co-op Community is actively opposing this legislation. NYSAR has also been actively opposing this legislation. Please review the attached memorandum submitted by NYSAR in the recent hearings regarding this legislation.
